The watch of prestige in its pure form
The Oyster Perpetual DAY-DATE II embodies the essence of Rolex prestige and excellence.
A heritage-enhancing evolution of the DAY-DATE with the famous calendar displaying the day and the date, the DAY-DATE II is in a class of its own, asserting its nobility in a majestic case. Presented in 2008, available only in precious metals and integrating all the watchmaking know-how of Rolex, the DAY-DATE II speaks to those who truly appreciate exceptional watches.
Instantaneous day and date
The DAY-DATE IIís calendar displays the day of the week spelt out in full in an arc-shaped window at 12 oíclock in addition to the date in a separate window. This display relies on disc mechanisms that reveal their ingenious engineering at midnight, when the day and date change simultaneously and instantaneously. The indication of the day of the week is available in a choice of 26 languages. The date display is magnified two and a half times by a CYCLOPS lens on the crystal. Both the date and day can be rapidly adjusted using the winding crown.
Platinum and gold, hallmarks of nobility
The DAY-DATE II embodies prestige and exclusivity. Its OYSTER case, guaranteed waterproof to a depth of 100 metres (330 feet), is a hallmark of the watchís nobility, produced exclusively in 950 platinum or in 18 ct gold. The characteristically shaped middle case is crafted from a solid block of metal. The fluted case back is hermetically screwed down with a special tool exclusive to Rolex watchmakers. The winding crown, fitted with the patented TWINLOCK double waterproofness system, screws down securely against the case. The bezel can be fluted, smooth or, on the gem-set version, arrayed with the most beautiful of precious stones. The crystal is made of virtually scratchproof synthetic sapphire. The waterproof OYSTER case provides the DAY-DATE IIís high-precision movement with optimal protection from water, dust, pressure and shocks.
The DAY-DATE II also offers a choice of unique dials in refined colours and textures.
The PRESIDENT bracelet
The DAY-DATE II is presented exclusively on the PRESIDENT braceletwith a concealed CROWNCLASP. This elegant bracelet with three semicircular links offers the wearer unique comfort and is perfectly suited to the modelís impressive allure. It is produced only in solid 950 platinum or 18 ct gold, materials selected with great care for their durability and incomparable nobility.
Calibre 3156, a superlative chronometer
The DAY-DATE II is equipped with calibre 3156, a self-winding mechanical movement entirely developed and manufactured by Rolex. Like all Rolex PERPETUAL movements, the 3156 is a certified Swiss chronometer, a designation reserved for high-precision watches that have successfully passed the Swiss Official Chronometer Testing Institute (COSC) tests. Its architecture, like that of all OYSTER watch movements, makes it singularly reliable. The oscillator, the true heart of the watch, has a large balance wheel with variable inertia regulated extremely precisely with gold MICROSTELLA nuts. It is fitted between high-performance PARAFLEX shock absorbers, developed and patented by Rolex, that offer 50 per cent greater resistance to shocks, and is held firmly in place by a height-adjustable traversing bridge. The oscillator features a blue PARACHROM hairspring patented and manufactured by Rolex in an exclusive alloy. Insensitive to magnetic fields, the PARACHROM hairspring offers great stability when exposed to temperature variations and remains up to 10 times more precise than a traditional hairspring in case of shocks. It is equipped with a Breguet overcoil enhancing the isochronism of the oscillations. Calibre 3156 is fitted with a self-winding module featuring a PERPETUAL rotor, which ensures continuous winding of the mainspring by harnessing the movements of the wrist to provide a constant source of energy.
The DAY-DATE IIís movement will only be seen by certified Rolex watchmakers, yet it is beautifully finished and decorated in keeping with the brandís uncompromising quality standards.
