Dior prêt-à-porter spring-summer 2012 reworks the codes that define the house to present a modern silhouette. inspired by the iconic basque of the “veste bar dior” elegant proportions are revisited and refined to create a new contemporary luxury.
Tailoring takes its cue from monsieur dior’s dropped kimono sleeve, reinventing classic dior silhouettes with raised waist line and wider cut neckline, defining a more compact, current shape.
Graphic construction cuts throughout the collection in bold geometric prints, stark blacks and whites in herringbone raffia, and window pane checks.
Dresses are cut with “trompe l’oeil” basque detailing. the restrained colour palette is softened with tones of taupe to icy pastels and accented with dior red.
Clothes are accessorized with metal dior chain links on belts and shoes. leather is embellished with tiled embroidery in tortoiseshell and galalite, while gazars and organzas are frosted with glass mosaic motifs.
Diaphanous eveningwear is colour blocked, pieced with bijoux pleating and subtle lace motifs. lightness combined with dior’s time-honoured codes create a modern elegance.
